Nina Contreras is a digital media artist, graduate of the University of South Florida's Fine Arts program with a concentration in Electronic Media. Having delved into Computer Science in the early stages of her studies, she has developed a unique understanding of opposite ends of the digital medium that allows her to use technology to push the boundaries of culture through art, video and design.

Through photography, video, motion graphics, and illustrative work, she takes her personal experiences as an inside-outsider in American and Mexican cultures to work with the transformative process of language systems through the struggles of translation. When observing her pieces, viewers are challenged to change their symbol systems by adapting what they know about themselves, to experience visual form of how her characters feel.
